Practice Overview

At SensoryWellness, we go beyond coping strategies to uncover and treat the root causes of sensory and self-regulation challenges—helping clients create lasting change in how they feel, move, and connect.

Here’s what sets us apart:

Bottom-Up, Body-Based Approach

We strengthen the brain-body connection using manual therapy, reflex integration, movement-based techniques, and targeted sensory work—not just through talk or behavior strategies.

One-on-One Expert Therapy

Every session is conducted in a private space with a skilled, compassionate therapist. You’ll receive a customized plan tailored to your body, history, and goals.

Real Progress, Tracked and Measured

We use consistent reassessment and feedback to guide each stage of therapy—ensuring your time is purposeful and progress is measurable.

Transformative, Individualized Care

From children to adults, our clients describe therapy as life-changing. We don’t just help people manage challenges—we help them reclaim ease, confidence, and joy in daily life.

Collaborative

Our goal is to empower you with knowledge and to support your entire care team in working toward meaningful, lasting change. We will gladly collaborate with your team of professionals to ensure holistic support.

We work with individuals of all ages—from toddlers to teens and from young adults to seniors. Our lifespan approach supports both children and adults with targeted therapy designed to ensure lasting change at any age.

Most of the time will be spent receiving targeted manual therapy while lying comfortably on a massage table.

Some time may also be used for guided therapeutic exercises tailored to your needs

All sessions take place in your own private therapy space with natural lighting and a quiet, soothing atmosphere. You will never share your therapy space with anyone else.

At SensoryWellness, sessions are gentle and pain-free. You do not need to “work hard” or stay mentally focused during your session. The therapy works by bringing ease to your body, helping you move with comfort and build a supportive posture—without needing to consciously think about it.

Clients are encouraged to relax in whatever way feels best. Some enjoy quiet conversation, others listen to music, an audiobook, or a podcast, and some even fall asleep—all of which are completely optimal. Neurodevelopmental change doesn’t require active thinking—or even wakefulness.

Techniques are carefully customized based on your or your child’s goals, sensory profile, and nervous system needs. Whether you’re here for healing, momentum, or a breakthrough, the space is yours to settle in and receive.

Therapy Overview

While outcomes vary, clients commonly experience improvements in focus, mood, physical coordination, emotional regulation, sleep, social engagement, and ease in daily life. Many describe feeling more grounded, resilient, and connected to their bodies—and able to move through the world with greater comfort and confidence.

Regulation and healing build step by step. Clients who receive therapy on a consistent weekly basis may start to notice change in as little as a few sessions. At least some change should be apparent by the 3 month mark. Clients should then continue to see steady change over the following weeks and months.

Some factors that determine the rate of change are: type of regulation issue being treated, consistency of therapy, client’s body responsiveness, and commitment to home exercises.

Every nervous system responds differently, and our job is to guide you through the process with clear, realistic expectations for your unique situation. We’ll help you recognize and celebrate the small wins—because they pave the way for big ones.

The initial evaluation is a foundational part of your therapy.  It ensures that your care is not only personalized, but also as effective and efficient as possible. Conducted by Danielle Amster, OTR, the evaluation is designed to do far more than just identify surface-level symptoms.

Here’s what makes it unique:

  • Identify the Root Causes:
At SensoryWellness, we go beyond symptom management to uncover the root causes of self-regulation and sensory challenges. This involves a comprehensive review of medical, developmental, and social-emotional history, as well as in-depth assessments of balance, posture, eye tracking, reflex integration, and more.
  • Tailor the Therapy Plan:
Everything we learn in the evaluation informs a fully customized intervention strategy. This ensures that your therapy targets what your nervous system needs—making the therapy more impactful in less time.
  • Educate and Empower You:
We believe that when clients understand how their nervous system works, they are better equipped to support change. All evaluation findings are explained in detail during the session. Our goal is to help each client (or parent) understand how sensory, motor, and neurological functioning directly impacts emotional, cognitive, and social abilities.
  • Build a Strong Foundation for Success:
The evaluation also provides a measurable baseline, guiding all future sessions and any follow-up care or coordination with other providers.

By starting with a thorough, root-focused evaluation, we ensure your therapy experience is safe, targeted, and truly transformative.

Yes. Each client receives a personalized home program to reinforce progress between sessions.

Absolutely. We frequently collaborate with psychologists, physicians, educators, and other professionals to ensure holistic support.

If you would like us to share our findings or simply speak with other professionals involved in your care, we’re happy to do so at no additional cost. Our goal is to empower you with knowledge and to support your entire care team in working toward meaningful, lasting change.

Session Experience

No. At SensoryWellness, you will never share a therapy space with other clients. Each session takes place in a private, dedicated room designed to be calm, comfortable, and free of distractions. We place the highest priority on privacy, confidentiality, and creating a safe environment where clients can fully relax and engage in the work.

In addition to physical privacy, all client records—including names, evaluations, and clinical notes—are kept strictly confidential and are accessible only to your treating therapist(s). From the therapy setting to our documentation practices, every part of your experience is handled with care and discretion.

To get the most out of your therapy sessions, we recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to relax and move with ease. Many clients bring a change of clothes, such as leggings or soft pants, especially if they’re coming from work or school.

Additional clothing tips:

  • Barefoot or socks are preferred for therapy sessions (stockings or tights are not ideal, but not prohibited)
  • Please avoid belts or restrictive clothing that may limit movement or comfort

You’re also welcome to bring:

  • A device with your favorite music, audiobook, or podcast — each therapy room is equipped with a Bluetooth speaker for personalized listening
  • Water or a small snack for break times
  • Preferred form of payment, as payment is expected at the time of service
  • For children, a comfort item or quiet activity can be helpful for transitions or breaks

All SensoryWellness offices offer complimentary WIFI, water, and coffee for clients and families, and your sessions will take place in a private, calming therapy room tailored to support focus, comfort, and regulation.

We’ll guide you through everything else—you just need to show up and settle in.

Absolutely. Clients of any age are welcome to have a family member or support person accompany them to their intensive sessions if that feels helpful. In fact, it can be especially beneficial for a parent, partner, or caregiver to attend—particularly if they’ll be involved in supporting or completing the home program exercises.

That said, to maintain a calm, focused, and therapeutic environment, we kindly ask that young children who are not the client receiving therapy not attend sessions, as they can be a distraction and may impact the quality of the session.

Our goal is to create the most supportive space possible for healing and progress, and we’re happy to discuss what level of involvement works best for your situation.

All core services at SensoryWellness—including evaluations and therapy sessions—are provided in person at one of our office locations. Our work is highly hands-on and body-based, involving manual techniques, movement assessments, and sensory integration strategies that require direct interaction and physical feedback to be safe and effective.

Initial evaluations and therapy sessions cannot be conducted remotely.

However, in extenuating circumstances, we may offer Zoom sessions for specific purposes—such as updating home program exercises or providing follow-up consultation and support.

If you’re traveling or live at a distance, we’re happy to discuss how we can support your continuity of care between in-person visits. For the full therapeutic benefit of therapy though, in-person participation is essential.
